Sacha Colvin:
Sacha Colvin (B.1952) in Fayette, Missouri (USA) currently residing in Gladstone, Missouri (USA) is a contemporary artist known for her colorful sea scape oil paintings using a bold abstract palette, exploring the natural landscape characterized by representational forms interspersed with abstract elements, a dynamic thought-provoking visual experience that conveys an emotional depth of silent and poetic presence.
The artist blends representational elements with the abstract use of color and mar-making, dots and dashes of color mixed y scraping the colors to blend them in a myriad array with washes of colors overlaid with thin or thick passages of paint. Colvin’s subjects are sea cliffs, water, boats, mountains, rocks, lone figure, incorporating her personal motifs.
Sacha Colvin studied at California College of Arts & Crafts in Oakland, California in 1974m graduated with a B.A. in Art from Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri (USA) in 1976. The artist lived and worked in Scottsdale, Arizona from 1983 to 2022 before relocating to Gladstone, Missouri in 2022. Colvin’s first solo exhibit was at Betty Robins Gallery in Columbia, Missouri in 1979, she has exhibited at Duley Jones Gallery in 2003, International Art Showcase at Greely Square Gallery in New York City, NY. Colvin’s work is in private collections nationally in the United States. Colvin’s current series “A Moment of Silence” is a exploration of the natural landscape, seascapes, with a bold abstract palette.
